Wang Wang and Funi

Wang Wang and Funi are two Giant Pandas on loan to Adelaide Zoo in Australia. [1][2][3] The pandas are on loan for ten years, part of a conservation program to protect endangered wildlife.[4]

History

The name Wang Wang means "net" in (Chinese: 网网). He weighs 119 kg. The female panda is Fu Ni in Chinese and is translated as "lucky girl", (Chinese: 福妮). She weighs 90 kg. They were quarantined on 21 October 2009 ready for their trip to Australia.[4] The pandas have joined Earth hour as official ambassadors this year.[5] The pandas were officially relocated to Adelaide, South Australia in November 2009.
